President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed thousands of visitors to the South Lawn on Thursday for the White House's annual Halloween gathering. The administration focused the event on specific groups, including children of military members, law enforcement officers, and foster or adoptive parents, along with administration staff.
The tradition has become a fixed point in the late autumn calendar. This year's ceremony marked the continuation of the White House's practice of inviting these communities to the presidential residence for trick-or-treating. The event served as a public display of the administration's connection with frontline workers and their families during the holiday season.
The four-hour program began with an Air Force One flyover. The U.S. Air Force Strolling Strings performed seasonal music and modern hits while guests waited. Young attendees moved through interactive stations established by various federal departments before receiving commemorative candies from the first couple.
The U.S. Postal Service set up toy mail trucks and a postcard station promoting Melania's “BE BEST” campaign. This initiative addresses youth well-being, online safety, and support for families affected by opioid abuse. The U.S. Department of Agriculture displayed a giant pumpkin photo backdrop and distributed mini pumpkins sourced from domestic farmers.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury handed out educational coloring books related to financial programs. The Center of Science and Industry offered STEAM science kits, while the International Fresh Produce Association and National Confectioners Association provided fresh apples and sweet treats. The event concluded after the four-hour window, with all guests having participated in the agency-led activities.
